At Lakeland, Our Graduates Are the Story

About 1964, there were stories of a swamp monster hanging around the Sheboygan marshes that made the papers. So my three buddies and I decided to create a monster. We bought a navy overboard suit from the pawn shop, stuffed it, and put a monster mask on it. About midnight one night, we stood it in front of Old Main. We put a wireless two-way radio in it and when students stood next to it we talked to them from the Old Main belfry. It became so popular with people asking questions of the monster that we had to take turns. I think this made the yearbook as well.
