- ABOUT LAKELAND
A few weeks after completing her bachelor's degree at Lakeland College, Pratikshya Bhandari enrolled in Marxist Economics at Colorado State University - for fun. "I missed going to classes already," Bhandari said.
Bhandari's graduation in May concluded a memorable four-year career, highlighted by receiving the college's Clarence H. Koehler Award. The annual award recognizes the senior who best exemplifies Lakeland's spirit through their engagement in campus activities while achieving academic success.
Bhandari served as an officer with the Global Student Association and Lakeland's Student Association and as lead planner for the college's popular International Night.
She made two spring break service trips with Habitat for Humanity and logged numerous hours helping other organizations. She also volunteered a significant amount of time as an academic tutor.
This fall, she'll enroll at Marquette University to begin graduate work on a master's degree in applied economics. A native of Nepal, her goal is to some day work with non-governmental organizations in developing countries.
I n searching for a college, Bhandari said she wanted the kind of complete experience that Lakeland offered. A few weeks into her course at CS U, Bhandari said she can already see the power of her Lakeland education. "I have confidence to raise my hand and talk about my observations - Lakeland gave me that confidence," she said. "I know I'll be a good student no matter where I go."
