- ABOUT LAKELAND
Rob Sizemore, senior pastor at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Sheboygan for the past 13 years, has been named Lakeland College's campus chaplain.
Sizemore has 25 years of pastoral care experience in various settings and he's assisted a diverse group of people process decision making, grief, tragedy, relationships and a wide variety of other issues. He's also taught in both worship/chapel and classroom settings.
He will serve the Lakeland community through student development activities, spiritual life initiatives and pastoral care, while also reaching out to area churches.
"The first few years of my undergraduate education were challenging," Sizemore said. "That has given me a desire to encourage struggling students and to build into them the self-confidence of knowing they will accomplish their goals once they are clear about them and committed to them."
Sizemore has worked as an adjunct faculty member teaching a number of Lakeland religion courses since 2007 and served on Lakeland's Church Relations Committee and Spiritual Vision Task Force.
"Since moving into the area in 1999, I have come to deeply appreciate the unique purpose of Lakeland in our community and the broader church community," Sizemore said. "I have enjoyed my interaction with faculty and staff and the many theological, academic and artistic offerings the college has provided. Lakeland's Esch Library is a regular place of study and reflection for me. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the great work being done at Lakeland."
Sizemore is involved in numerous community organizations. He is currently vice president of the Sheboygan County Ministerial Association, is a member of the Sheboygan YMCA board and a member of the Sheboygan Harbor and Marina Committee. He was president of the Community Concerts Association and has held various leadership positions within the denomination.
Prior to being named senior pastor at Calvin Christian, Sizemore served a variety of roles at churches in Indianapolis, Ind., Alger, Wash., Surrey, British Columbia, and Allendale, Mich.
He holds a master of divinity degree from the Calvin Theological Seminary and is currently working on a doctor of ministry through the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill.
Sizemore's wife, Dawn, is a 2002 Lakeland graduate and has been an instructor in Lakeland's English Language Institute. The Sizemores have regularly hosted foreign students for dinner, building relationships and helping them with their English. They have three adult children.
