LaLuzerne, Hernandez return from NCAA Leadership Forum

Athletics - posted on 11/15/2012

Two Lakeland College seniors - Jenny LaLuzerne (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) and Rylee Hernandez (St. Paul, Minn.) - recently returned from Dallas after attending the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum on Nov. 1-4.

LaLuzerne is from Sturgeon Bay and is a member of Lakeland's softball team. Hernandez is from St. Paul, Minn., and is a member of the men's basketball team. The two were joined by Assistant Athletic Director April Arvan in representing Lakeland.

It was the first time since the Leadership Forum has been established in 2002 that Lakeland students have been selected to attend.

"The leadership training Jenny and Rylee received was outstanding, and the opportunity to network with Division I, II, and III student-athletes and athletics professionals will prove to be beneficial for many years to come," Arvan said. "I was able to serve as a facilitator at this event, and it was neat to watch Rylee and Jenny in that atmosphere. They fit right in with the best of the nation's student-athlete leaders. We look forward to Rylee and Jenny implementing the concepts learned in Dallas on our campus."

The Leadership Forum engaged a diverse and dynamic representation of student-athletes, coaches, faculty and administrators and provided sessions to enhance personal awareness and leadership skills needed to impact student-athlete development at the campus and conference level, and beyond the college realm.
