Lakeland baseball opener at UIC cancelled

The Lakeland College baseball team's 2013 season opener against the University of Illinois-Chicago scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, has been cancelled due to a snowstorm expected to reach the Upper Midwest Monday night and into Tuesday.

The Muskies were to face the NCAA Division I Flames at UIC's Les Miller Field, but now will have to wait until Sunday, March 10, to make their season debut. Lakeland will now open its season with a doubleheader against Elms (Mass.) College in Fort Myers, Fla., beginning at 9 a.m. Central time Sunday morning.
