Human beings are an intensely creative species. As such, they have always found expression, and have always conceived of themselves and their world, through art. Art majors at Lakeland College both study and contribute to this history of human creativity.
Art majors at Lakeland develop their creative potential through the process of building a portfolio for either a marketable career in art, placement in a graduate program, or enriching their lives with a rewarding means of visual expression. In addition to hands-on coursework in a wide variety of disciplines, art majors also gain practical experience through internships in the field and exhibiting their art in the Bradley Art Gallery in the Annual Student Art Exhibition and in their capstone Senior Exhibit.
An art major at Lakeland College had two directions of study to choose from: the Graphic Arts Emphasis and/or the Studio Emphasis. Both emphases are under the instruction of a diverse faculty of practicing artists in the fields they teach.

The faculty of Lakeland College's art department are the very accomplished assistant professor team of William Weidner and Denise Presnell-Weidner.
