Resort Management SAP

The resort management major at Lakeland College has a robust Student-as-Practitioner component. In fact, roughly 200 students participate in Student-as-Practitioner activities in resort management courses throughout the school year. In addition to requiring student practicums and internships, the resort management major encouraged student engagement through the following activities:

  • Tours of local hospitality businesses including the Osthoff Resort, Blue Harbor Resort, Lambeau Field, and The American Club (9 tours; 75 students)
  • In-class projects ranging from developing a menu for a restaurant to a renovation plan for a hotel (104 students)
  • Out-of-class projects with local businesses, including accommodations audits and analyses of online reservation systems (40 students)
  • Guest speakers from various businesses and organizations

The resort management major emphasizes direct experience in all of its courses and in its internship and practicum requirements. The Student-as-Practitioner component of the major is one of the reasons for the growth of the program over the years.
