According to a recently released report* on the performance of undergraduate students taking the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination, Lakeland College was ranked in the top 10 of 2,000 colleges and universities in 5 of 24 assessment categories.

During the Winter 2009 CMA exam testing period, a Lakeland College senior obtained the highest score in the country in passing all four parts of the CMA exam, outperforming students from 2,000 other colleges/universities.

Lakeland College was ranked:

  • #1 in the nation in pass rates on three of the four parts of the exam.
  • #2 in the nation for first-time candidates passing exactly three parts of the exam.
  • #4 in the nation for all candidates at a college or university passing at least three parts of the exam (first-time testers and repeat testers).
  • #6 in the nation for first-time candidates passing at least three parts of the exam.
  • #9 in the nation for first-time candidates passing at least one part of the exam.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Prep Program

Fall 2012; Sept. 4-Dec. 3, 2012

Ranked among the top ten in the nation by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (see reverse side), Lakeland's CPA Prep courses contain three unique, online MBA courses totaling nine credits which you have the option of applying toward Lakeland's MBA with a concentration in accounting. Lakeland CPA prep course credits can also be applied toward the 150-credit requirement to sit for the CPA exam. At the core of these online courses is the internationally-recognized Becker CPA review program utilizing streaming video lectures, business simulations, course books and homework material. This course has been completely updated to reflect the 2011 CPA exam changes.

Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Prep Program

Fall 2012; Sept. 4-Dec. 3, 2012

Lakeland College's CMA prep courses feature the internationally-recognized Gleim Publications CMA review curriculum offering case studies, periodic exams and voluntary face-to-face sessions with skilled instructors. It includes two unique, online MBA courses totaling six credits which you have the option of applying toward Lakeland's MBA with a concentration in accounting. Lakeland's program delivers impressive results with more than 85% of people passing the CMA exam on their first try. This course has been completely updated to reflect the new two-part CMA exam.

  • BA 771 Advanced Industrial Accountancy I (focusing on CMA Exam Part 1) (3 credits) (Financial Planning/Control)
  • BA 772 Advanced Industrial Accountancy II (focusing on CMA Exam Part 2) (3 credits) (Financial Decision Making)

The SHRM Learning System College Program:

This 12-week non-credit program prepares the participant to sit for the Certificate in Human Resource Management exam (PHR/SPHR). The six major components of the SHRM system are covered including Strategic Management, Workforce Planning and Employment, Human Resource Development, Compensation and Benefits, Employee and Labor Relations, and Occupational Health, Safety, and Security.
