Athletics - posted on 2/11/2006
The Muskies, 12-3 Lake Michigan Conference and 17-7 overall, shot just 31 percent from the floor and racked up 20 turnovers in route to at 52-47 loss to Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday.
Senior Kristi Thill led the Muskies with 23 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Jenna Boehm added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Muskies.
Lakeland found themselves down 52-48 with 4:20 remaining in the game, but Lakeland would battle back to cut the lead to 52-47 with 2:28 remaining. However, after the Thill's 3-pointer to cut the lead to five would be the last points either team would score for the remainder of the night.
With the loss, the Muskies fall to 12-3 in conference and are still a game ahead of Concordia, Wisconsin Lutheran, and Edgewood in the race for the Lake Michigan Conference title, due to Edgewood defeating Wisconsin Lutheran earlier today.
With one game left for each of the top teams, Lakeland needs to win their final game on Monday, February 13 in Watertown against Maranatha to clinch the regular season title and home-court advantage throughout the LMC tournament. The Muskies have won three of the past five LMC titles.
