Matt Benson Named LMC Player of the Week

Lakeland College junior Matt Benson, a member of the Muskies' wrestling team competing at heavyweight, has been named Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Week.

The Random Lake native went 2-0 Monday Dec., 19 at the Desert Duals in Las Vegas, Nev. Benson started the day with a 5-1 decision over Brett Morris of Central College, Iowa. In the third dual for Lakeland against Luther College, Benson defeated Jake Madrinich 5-1 as well. The Muskies went 2-2 in the Desert Duals as they defeated Central (31-12) and Luther (27-16), while dropping matches against Coe (24-19) and Simpson (30-14).

The Muskies travel to Galesburg, Ill., to compete in the Knox Duals on Jan., 7.
