Women Take First in their bracket at 2005 South Padre Island Shootout

The Lakeland Muskies took first in their bracket at the 2005 South Padre Island Shootout with a 72-53 victory over Concordia University - Austin, Texas.

The Muskies had three players score in double digits led by sophomore Jenna Boehm with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for Lakeland were seniors Beth Porter with 18 and Kristi Thill with 12.

Lakeland shot 52% from the field, while their defense held Concordia to just 29% from the floor.

Boehm was named to the All-Tournament team, while senior Kristi Thill was named MVP of the tournament. Thill scored 27 points in the win against Juniata College and finished the tournament with 39 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. In addition to her 21 points this evening, Boehm recorded 27 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and three steals in the two-day tournament.

The Muskies, 8-3 overall, will travel to Dominican on Jan. 4 where they will try to improve to 5-0 in the Lake Michigan Conference.
