The Lakeland women’s basketball team suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of UW-River Falls on Saturday, 79-49.
Sara Langenhorst scored a game-high 16 points for the Muskies but also committed 10 of Lakeland’s 33 turnovers. Brenda Paulson was the only other Muskie in double digits with 10 points.
Also marred by frigid shooting, the Muskies could only manage to sink 20 percent of their field goal shots, while River Falls shot 43 percent.
Lakeland was also held without a point for the first five minutes of the game.
With a 5-4 overall record, the Muskies travel to San Diego for the Surf ‘N Slam Tournament hosted by Point Loma Nazarene. They will face Western Connecticut State in the first round on December 28 at 4 p.m. central time.
