Muskies sink Warriors in comeback win

Brenda Paulson’s layup with 24 seconds left lifted the Lakeland women’s basketball team to a 61-57 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran at the Todd Wehr Center on Saturday afternoon to keep pace in the tight race for the Lake Michigan Conference title.
Sara Langenhorst led with 19 points for the Muskies, who were down by as many as 12 points in the game and did not hold a lead until late in the second half when Langenhorst nailed a three pointer to make the score 51-50 with 3:16 left.
Karli Nichols, who added two free throws with eight seconds left to seal the game, finished with 16 points. Renee Steinert added 12 points and nine rebounds for Lakeland.
Emily Laete scored a team-high 18 points for the Warriors, and Kami Ten Pas tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The Muskies and Warriors were tied for second place in the LMC at 7-3 until this game. Lakeland now holds sole possession of second place in the LMC behind Edgewood, who beat Marian Saturday.
Lakeland’s next game is against MSOE Tuesday night at 8 p.m. at the Todd Wehr Center.
