Boehm's 28 Points Help Muskies Snap Losing Streak with Win Over Clarke

The Lakeland women's basketball team (6-5, 3-2 NAC) brought their recent three-game losing skid to an end on Friday, Jan. 5, as they pulled out a 67-62 victory on the road in non-conference action with Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa.
"It was a tight game," said head coach April Arvan. "It was nice to get a win on the road and nice to see us play better than we have for the last couple of weeks."
Although the score teetered back and forth for the majority of the game, the Muskies were able to come out on top in the end as they shot a much-improved 48 percent from the floor. Senior forward Jenna Boehm also gave the squad a major boost, pouring in 28 points on 11 for 16 shooting and grabbing five rebounds in only 25 minutes.
"Jenna did a nice job of catching and finishing," Arvan said. "We knew that if we got the ball to her on the inside that she would score, which helped open things up on the outside."
Fellow senior forward Danielle Duranceau also had a solid game for the Muskies with 12 points and seven rebounds, putting her in a three-way tie for a game-high in rebounds with senior guard Amanda Thielmann and freshman guard KC Blahnik.
"Emily (Agner) and KC did a great job off the bench and all five of our starters were very productive, which is a step in the right direction," Arvan said. "Megan (Chart) and Brenda (Paulson) also did a good job."
Blahnik finished with eight points and nailed the Muskies' only 3-point basket of the game. Agner, a freshman forward, came off the bench to tally five points and two rebounds. Chart and Paulson each finished with six points apiece, with Chart hitting three of her four shot attempts and also snagging three steals.
"This is a good game to build on as our last non-conference game," Arvan said. "It should help us get the ball rolling in the right direction heading into the rest of our NAC schedule."
The Muskies will delve back into Northern Athletics Conference action on Tuesday, Jan. 9, with a home game against Alverno. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
