Lakeland heads to La Crosse for NCAA Tourney opener

The Lakeland College volleyball team heads to UW-La Crosse Thursday night and opens the NCAA Division III Tournament against Concordia, Minn.
The pairings of the tournament were announced Sunday night.
Sixth-seeded Lakeland (25-13) faces third-seeded Concordia (23-3) at 4:30 p.m. at the Midwest Regional in La Crosse, while fourth-seeded UW-La Crosse will play fifth-seeded St. Norbert at 7 p.m.
The Lakeland-Concordia winner advances to play second-seeded UW-Stout on Friday, while the La Crosse-St. Norbert winner plays top-seeded UW-Whitewater on Friday. The regional final is Saturday.
The Muskies are making their third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, also their third in program history.
Concordia is ranked 15th in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III national poll.
The Cobbers, who have won two straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament titles, are making their second straight NCAA appearance and the fourth in program history. At one point this season, Concordia won 19 straight matches.
Lakeland’s regional includes several other teams ranked in the top 25 – Whitewater is 9th, La Crosse is 14th and Stout is 17th.
