Lakeland falls short of #23 UW-Whitewater

On a cold night in Sheboygan,
the Muskies moved indoors to the wrestling mat where Lakeland
took on the #23 ranked team in DIII, UW-Whitewater. The Muskies would come out on the loosing
end, 15-30.
Lakeland would
fight hard, scrapping for every point and suffered only one pin, when Lakeland’s
Sam Copp fell to the #3 ranked wrestler in DIII, Nick Karls.
Lakeland’s Lee
Sparks defeated Kory Lochner of Whitewater by a score of 9-3 in the #197 weight
class, and Mark Vandenhoogen also defeated Derrik Johnson 5-0 in a tough #285
heavy-weight match.
Lakeland will
next take the mat against MSOE this Saturday at the Kern
Center in Milwaukee.
Match time is set for 11:00am.
