The Volleyball team today split their two games at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament, first falling in 3 games to the University of Chicago 30-23, 30-13, and 30-23. The Muskies registered 44 kills along with 54 digs in the team effort, but still came out on the losing end. Leading the way for the Muskies was Lana Neuman (Westmont, IL) who had 3 kills, 28 assists and 16 digs. Therese Ertler (Riverside, IL) added 7 kills and 11 digs and Leeann Hupfer (Westmont, IL) added 13 kills as well.
In the second game of the day, the Lady Muskies took on North Park University to try and salvage one game out of the tournament. The Muskies would indeed do that, coming back rather convincingly in the first match, winning 30-17. The Muskies would battle in the second game, needing to take the match to 31-29, but came out on the winning end. The fourth game saw some exciting action as well, but the Muskies were able to put away North Park and come out with a win. Leading the effort for the Muskies was Connie Thousand (Barneveld, WI) who had 14 kills, 2 blocks and 2 digs. Lana Neuman added 8 digs and 51 assists. As a team the Muskies racked up 56 kills and 54 digs.
The Muskies next match is scheduled for Tuesday September 14 at the Wehr Center. Game time is 7:00pm.
