Athletics - posted on 9/16/2004
The Lakeland Muskies took the court tonight hoping to end St. Norbert College’s dominance of the LMC in non-conference
play. The Muskies look solid early, winning the first match by a score
of 30-28. St Norbert showed they would not give up, staying close in
the second game as well. But the Muskies would put on a strong final
effort and take the second match as well by a score of 30-25.
St
Norbert would come firing back, answering the Muskies every point, and
pulled away in the 3rd match near the end to take the match 30-28. The
fourth match saw much of the same; a see-saw battle for the lead. St.
Norbert would win the 4th match 30-25 to take it to the crucial 5th
game.
In
the 5th game, the Muskies and St. Norbert fought hard, giving as well
as getting, but in the end the Muskies would fall short, loosing 16-14.
Leading the way for the Muskies was Lana Neuman who racked up 62
assists, 18 digs, six kills, and one block. Heather Heberlein added 22
kills, five blocks, and five digs. Nikki Boeckh chipped in 11 kills and
four blocks.
The
Muskies will next travel to Fond du Lac to take on Concordia Mequon and
Marian College at the Marian triangular. The Concordia match will begin
at 11am and the Marian match will be at 1pm.
