Muskies suffer first loss in NAC play at Marian

Athletics - posted on 12/4/2007

Despite a career-high 28 points from senior Aaron Regal, the Lakeland College men's basketball team fell to host Marian, 86-80, in a Northern Athletics Conference match-up on Tuesday night in Fond du Lac.

It was the first loss in NAC play for the Muskies (2-4, 2-1 NAC) this season. The Sabres (4-2, 2-0 NAC) led the entire game, jumping out to a 45-31 halftime lead. With 9:31 left in the second half, Lakeland was able to cut the lead to one with a pair of free throws by Regal, but that is as close as the Muskies would get.

Regal had a stellar game shooting a perfect 10 for 10 from the free throw line and 4-7 from behind the 3-point line. He also led the team in assists with three.

Senior Kris Saiberlich and junior Peter Worth also hit the double-digit mark as Saiberlich had 17 points, while Worth tied his career-high with 10 points. Senior Danny Ehnert led the Muskies on the boards with five rebounds.

Lakeland returns to action Thursday as they host Northland Baptist in a non-conference match-up. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in the Woltzen Gym.
