Sophomore Terra Hiben was awarded with the first Northern Athletics Conference Student-Athlete of the Week award of the 2007-08 women's basketball season, as the awards were announced Monday.
Hiben, a 5-foot-6 guard from Boyceville, Wis., scored a game-high 15 points in Lakeland's 51-31 win over Ripon College in the championship game of Lakeland's "Play with Grace" Coaches vs.Cancer Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday. The win marks the first time since 2004 that Lakeland has won the tournament title. Hiben was also named the tournament MVP and was a member of the all-tournament team for her efforts.
For the week, she averaged 14.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 56 percent from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range.
"I have definitely been impressed with her play throughout the last four weeks," said head coach Teri Johnson. "I knew she had the capability to play at this level, and she has been composed and taken things into her own hands."
