GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Lakeland men's basketball team went punch for punch with Southwestern University on Friday night, but was unable to strike the final blow in a 55-51 loss in the team's second game in as many days at the Southwestern/Trinity Classic at Southwestern.

After Anthony Cox put the Pirates (6-3) ahead by six with 1:32 left in the game, Lakeland was unable to draw within two points for the remainder of the contest.

In a physical, defensive battle, neither team shot above 35 percent from the field as the two squads combined for 48 personal fouls, three technical fouls and 56 free throw attempts.

For the third consecutive game, the Muskies (4-3, 2-1 Northern Athletics Conference) were led in scoring by freshman forward Jake Schwarz. The Sheboygan native tallied 15 points and eight rebounds in 26 minutes of action.

Senior forward Pete Worth (Sheboygan) continued his relentless effort for Lakeland, posting 11 points and eight rebounds (five offensive) while diving all over the floor and working continuously on the defensive end with three steals.

As a team, Lakeland totaled 25 offensive rebounds, a season high.

The Muskies have two weeks off before traveling to Northland College on Jan. 2.
