Blahnik awarded CoSIDA academic honor

Junior forward KC Blahnik of the Lakeland women's basketball team has been named to CoSIDA's ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America District 5 first team for the 2008-2009 season.
Blahnik, a native of Gladstone, Mich., is a psychology major with a 3.91 grade point average and also plays second base on the Lakeland softball team.
She averaged a team-high 11.8 points for the women's basketball team in 24 contests. She also lead the Muskies in minutes per game (30.7), steals (38), rebounds per game (7.6) and assists per game (2.0), and was second in blocks (12) and third in field goal percentage (.429) as the Muskies finished the season third in the north division at 11-6 with an overall record of 17-9.
Blahnik was named second team all-NAC for the second season in a row after receiving NAC All-Rookie team accolades in her first season.
She joins senior women's soccer player Amy Christenson as Muskies to be awarded first team honors for academics by CoSIDA this season.
