Men's golf selected fifth in preseason voting

Athletics - posted on 8/19/2009

The Lakeland men's golf team has been picked to finish fifth in the Northern Athletics Conference this season by the conference's coaches, as the conference released the 2009 NAC men's golf preseason coaches' poll.

The Muskies received 38 points a season after finishing in seventh at the 2008 NAC Championship. Freshman Gary Petit was named to the All-NAC team with an individual finish of 14th.

MSOE, winners of the last two NAC titles, received 76 poll points and four of the nine first place votes.  The Raiders became the conference's first team to appear in the NCAA Division III men's golf championship last season by virtue of winning the NAC's automatic bid.

Lakeland opens its 2009 season September 4-5 at the Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic.
