Petit named All-NAC for second straight year
Athletics - posted on 10/19/2009
Lakeland sophomore Gary Petit earned his second consecutive spot on the All-Northern Athletics Conference men's golf team, the league announced late last week.

Petit, who finished 14th at last year's NAC Men's Golf Championships, carded a two-day total of 158 (78-80) to finish seventh in the conference tournament on Oct. 12-13 at Whistling Straits.
Petit's third top 10 finish of the season helped the Muskies place fifth at the tournament.
"Gary didn't play his best golf near the end of the year, so to shoot a 78-80 on that course not playing your best golf is very good," Lakeland coach Tyler Bormann said. "He's definitely established himself as one of the top players in our conference and a leader by example for our team."
For the season, Petit, a Monroe, Wis., native, led the team and finished sixth in the conference with a 77.8 strokes per 18-hole round average. His lowest round came in the second round of the MSOE Invitational on Oct. 4-5, when he fired a one-over-par 72.
Petit earned NAC Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 14-20 after guiding Lakeland to a second-place finish at the Ripon College Invite at Mascoutin G.C. in Berlin, Wis.
