DE PERE, Wis. - The No. 12 ranked Green Knights proved their worthiness in the D3hoops.com national rankings after beating the Lakeland College men's basketball team, 69-58, Wednesday night in the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament in De Pere, Wis.

The Muskies (3-5) struggled from the field again, shooting a mere 31.5 percent and trailed the Green Knights (8-1) the entire game.

Despite forcing 11 Green Knights turnovers, the Muskies weren't able to maximize on St. Norbert's mistakes and allowed too many second-chance opportunities.

Freshman guard Tal Diekvoss (Beaver Dam, Wis.) led the game with 16 points, including hitting a couple of 3-pointers. Junior guard Josh Regal (Suring, Wis.) and junior guard Bobby Komorowski (Germantown, Wis.) added 11 points apiece. Regal ended the game with eight rebounds to go along with three assists.

Head coach Aaron Aanonsen was disappointed with the team's shooting.

"I thought we played ok," said Aanonsen. "We have to shoot better than 31 percent from the floor to win the game, but there are some positives we can take away from this game."

John Taylor led St. Norbert with 12 points and five rebounds.

For the game, St. Norbert shot 41.2 percent from the field, including 33.3 percent from behind the 3-point arc and 71.4 percent from the charity stripe.

Lakeland faces the Blue Devils of the University of Wisconsin-Stout in the tournament's consolation game at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Schuldes Sports Center in De Pere, Wis. No. 12 St. Norbert faces No. 10 Augustana College in the championship game at 7 p.m.
