Grapplers post impressive showing in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla.- Isaac Roberson and Ryan Renon led the Lakeland College wrestling team to a 2-2 finish at the Gator Duals Sunday in Orlando, Fla.

Roberson and Renon ended the day a perfect 4-0 and continue to impose on their opponents.

Head coach Mike DeRoehn was pleased with their efforts and work ethic.

"Isaac and Ryan continue to lead the team on the mats by staying in their stance, wrestling fundamentally solid and going hard for seven minutes, regardless of the score," said DeRoehn.

The Muskies earned team victories over Simpson College and also the University of Central Florida, who is currently ranked No. 1 in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association.

The grapplers lost by just one point to power-house and No. 22 Luther College.

DeRoehn likes the team's progress and continues to make strides.

"Throughout the day, many of our guys displayed 100 percent effort and that fighting attitude that we ask them to give," DeRoehn said. "While we still have a long way to go, we are surely making progress and I'm proud to be coaching this team. We can take a lot of positives from today's event."

Lakeland returns to action as they travel to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Duals on Jan. 8 in Oshkosh, Wis.
