Muskies fall to LumberJills as offensive stuggles continue
Athletics - posted on 1/4/2011
The Lakeland College women's basketball team's offensive struggles continued as they fell to Northland College, 53-36 Tuesday night.
Lakeland (5-6) never got into a rhythm on offense and weren't able to keep pace with Northland (5-5) as the LumberJills built an early lead that they would not relinquish.
Northland shot 42 percent (21-50) from the field, 44 percent (8-18) from behind the three-point arc, and 60 percent (3-5) from the free throw line. Meanwhile, the Muskies continued to struggle especially from three, shooting 35 percent (17-49) from the field, 10 percent (1-10) from behind the three-point arc, and 33 percent (1-3) from the charity stripe.
Overall, Lakeland head coach Teri Johnson was disappointed with the teams overall performance.
"It was a disappointing loss to a very solid team," said Johnson. "I had hoped we would have played a better game overall. Now we turn our focus to our conference game this weekend."
Lakeland returns to action Saturday, January 8, when the return home and host Northern Athletics Conference foe, Rockford College. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
