Muskies fall at Dubuque Duals

DUBUQUE, Iowa- The Lakeland College wrestling team traveled to the Dubuque Duals and took on No. 18 the University of Dubuque and Buena Vista College on Saturday in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Muskies fell 42-9 to Dubuque and also suffered a 34-18 setback to Buena Vista to end the day a disappointing 0-2.

Senior Isaac Roberson (Chicago, Ill.), was the only grappler to go 2-0 in the 157 weight class after he earned the 6-5 decision over Ryan Warczynski of Dubuque and registered a technical fall over Codey Schultz of Buena Vista.

Freshman Tom Phalin (Sheboygan, Wis.) earned Lakeland's other victory against Dubuque at 285 as he pinned David Vinton in 30 seconds. Phalin fell by pin to Brian Broll of Buena Vista to end the day 1-1.

Also earning victories for Lakeland was junior Robby Frias (Oak Lawn, Ill.) at 141, junior Miguel Luis (Oak Lawn, Ill.) at 174 and sophomore Chris Weber (Mishicot, Wis.) at 184.

Frias pinned Tim Vore of Buena Vista in 2:36. Luis earned the takedown 6-4 overtime win against Casey Paprocki. Weber had the 14-2 major decision over Joe Klinkel.

Lakeland returns to action as they travel to Wheaton, Ill., to participate in the two-day Pete Wilson Invite on Jan. 28-29.
