Lakeland falls in final home dual

The Lakeland College wrestling team suffered a heartbreaking 23-21 setback to the Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Wrestling Association conference dual meet Friday night in the Todd Wehr Center Fieldhouse.
The Muskies and the Raiders battled fiercely as the dual's decision came down to the last match of the night. Lakeland won five out of 10 weight classes, but wasn't able to come out on top. This marks MSOE's first dual victory over Lakeland since Jan. 11, 2006.
Freshman Jacob Bugajski (Chicago, Ill.) earned the team's lone pin of the night over Josh Wengerter in 1:38 at the 149 weight class. Junior Rob Forgette (Menominee, Mich.) swept past MSOE's Kyle Perea as he earned the 18-2 technical fall.
10th ranked senior Isaac Roberson (Chicago, Ill.) earned the 17-8 major decision over David Swanson and gave the Muskies a lift heading into the final weight class matches.
Also earning victories for Lakeland junior Miguel Luis (Oak Lawn, Ill.) and freshman Tom Phalin (Sheboygan, Wis.) Garcia earned the 6-1 decision against Samuel Bramstedt at 165, while Luis got the 11-6 decision over Bryce Howard at 174. Phalin showed he was a contender at 285 and earned the 4-2 decision against Andrew Dorman.
Lakeland returns to action on Friday, Feb. 11, as they travel to La Crosse, Wis., to take on No. 2 ranked the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. The match is set for 6 p.m.
