Grapplers struggle at Wheaton Invite

Athletics - posted on 1/27/2012

The Lakeland College wrestling team finished 29th out of 31 at the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invite on Jan. 27 in Wheaton, Ill.

34 teams and over 340 wrestlers were part of the tournament, including No. 3-ranked University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and No. 8 Olivet College.

Senior Robby Frias and freshman Eduardo Orihuela led the team with 2-2 records at the 149-pound weight class and 133, respectively, but the team struggled to put together a campaign amongst some of the nation's best competition.

Lakeland returns to the mats on Feb. 3 as they travel to Milwaukee, Wis., to take on the Milwaukee School of Engineering in a Northern Wrestling Association dual. The dual begins at 7 p.m.
