A disappointing loss to Defiance College on Dec. 30 didn't affect the Lakeland College men's basketball team tonight as the Muskies recorded a 96-58 win over Northland College in non-conference action in Woltzen Gym. .jpg)
After being down 6-0 in the first three minutes, Lakeland (7-3, 3-1 NAC) went on a 12-0 run to take a six point lead that it would never look back from and ended the first half with an 18-point, 46-28 lead.
Sophomore Justin Ward (Wisconsin Dells) sparked the Muskies triumph with an opening dunk and ended the night with 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting. Ward also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and shot 50 percent from 3-point range.
The Lumberjacks cut the lead to 14 with 16:50 left to play, but the Muskies shot 51.4 percent from the floor in the second half and extended their lead to as many as 40 points.
Junior Jake Schwarz (Sheboygan) led all scorers with 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting. Senior Josh Regal (Suring) posted another solid performance with 10 points and six assists. Freshman Alex Cole (Eau Claire) ended the night with seven points on 2-for-2 shooting, while freshman Kurt Jansen (Wrightstown) grabbed six rebounds and posted three points.
Lakeland turned 25 Lumberjack turnovers into a 40-point surplus, and posted a 20-12 assist-to-turnover ratio itself.
