Oshkosh, WI - The Lakeland men's soccer team defeated last year's Final Four participant UW Oshkosh today 2-0 in Oshkosh. šJunior goalkeeper Joe Silverberg (South Bend, IN) posted the shutout as the Muskies defeated the Titans for the first time in the history of the Lakeland soccer program. Second half goals by freshman midfielder Zach Buchman (Waterford) and sophomore forward Scott Kress (Kiel) improved Lakeland's overall record to 3-3-1 on the season. š

"It's a great win versus a very good team," said Head Soccer Coach Marc Colwell. "You've got to give our defense credit because we battled for 90 minutes and kept them off the scoreboard. Offensively, we struggled to find a rhythm today, but managed to finish when it counted. Oshkosh lost some key seniors from last year's Final Four team, but they are still one of the top teams in the region. I'm so proud of the work our guys put in against such a quality opponent"

Lakeland got on the board in the 82nd minute on a goal by Buchman off an assist from Kress and sophomore midfielder Sam Schroeder (Monticello, MN). Schroeder laid a ball off to Kress on the right side of the field. Kress then served a great ball to Buchman who cut in front off a Titan defender to knock it home.

Kress would seal the game in the waning moments as he broke free and scored on a breakaway to give the Muskies a 2-0 win.

Lakeland will next face undefeated St. Norbert College tomorrow at Muskie field on the Lakeland College campus. Game time is set at 4 pm.
