This week in women's basketball

Athletics - posted on 1/17/2012

This week, the Lakeland College women's basketball team will have a quick turnaround and have to shrug off an early 56-53 setback to visiting Maranatha Baptist on Monday night. The Muskies face two tough road contests this week with a trip to Marian University on Wednesday followed by a visit to Aurora University on Saturday.

Last week, the Muskies extended their winning streak to six games with an 89-67 win over NAC North rival Edgewood College. Sophomore Leah Eisner (Stevens Point, Wis.) had a break-out performance, scoring 18 points and grabbing seven rebounds off the bench. She also hit a career-high eight free throws while not missing from the line. Junior Becky Mayo (Gladstone, Mich.) chipped in with 14 points and six boards and senior Becca Tilleman (Green Bay, Wis.) added 12 points and eight assists.

The Muskies will look make some noise in the NAC North standings. Lakeland is currently fourth behind Wisconsin Lutheran College, Concordia University Wisconsin and Marian University.

In their loss to Maranatha, Lakeland struggled to find a rhythm and couldn't put the game away. Stats and a full recap are available here.
