MILWAUKEE - Marcus McCauley (Fr.-Hillpoint, Wis.) finished fourth at 141 pounds, one of four Lakeland College wrestlers to finish in the top five in their class at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invite Saturday.
McCauley helped the Muskies finish with a team total of 44 points in the meet. Lakeland finished ninth of 11 teams in the team standings, while Central (Iowa) College won the team title with 156.5 points.
McCauley lost his first match before winning four straight matches in the wrestleback in his weight class. He lost a narrow 9-6 decision to top seed Mason Bohm of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in the match for third place.
A trio of Muskies finished fifth in their weight classes. Matt Weber (So.-Lockport, Ill.) won his first match at 157 lbs., then made it one short of the third-place match, winning a 3-1 decision over Thomas Dahlke of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Jeremy Kroeger (So.-Villa Park, Ill.) finished with a 3-2 record at 197 lbs. He finished with a 5-1 decision over Abe Graziano of UW-Platteville to clinch fifth place.
Andy Crivellone (So.-Oak Lawn, Ill.) made his season debut at 285 lbs. and like Weber won his opening match before a loss dropped him into the wrestleback bracket. He won two more matches before his second loss, then finished with a pin of Zac Oranger of Concordia University Wisconsin in 42 seconds to clinch fifth place.
Lakeland will compete in its final meet before its winter break when it travels to Naperville, Ill., for the North Central College Invitational next Saturday at 9 a.m.
