The 2012 edition of the Lakeland College football team has arrived on campus and got its first look at the practice field Monday afternoon.
The Muskies arrived on campus Sunday afternoon, moving in, participating in a number of meetings and evaluations and receiving their equipment. The team then took the field for the first time Monday, 18 days before its season opener on Sept. 1 against Carroll University.
A total of 98 players make up this year's roster entering the fall, including 14 starters returning from last year's team. Lakeland will be looking to improve on last year's 4-6 overall record that included a 4-3 mark to tie for fourth in the Northern Athletics Conference.
Interviews from the first day of practice are now on the Lakeland Muskies YouTube page at http://www.youtube.com/user/LakelandCoAthletics. Lakeland Sports Information Director Adam Glatczak and Lakeland Communications Graduate Assistant Zach Willey talked with Head Coach Kevin Doherty, junior quarterback Dylan Van Straten (Shiocton, Wis.) and senior linebacker Bruce Romagnoli (Iron Mountain, Mich.) following Monday's practice.
Stay tuned to the Lakeland athletics website as well as the Muskies' Facebook, Youtube and Twitter pages for updates on fall practice for the Lakeland football team, as well as other Muskie fall sports teams.
