Lakeland takes to road to face Aurora in another NAC battle

Athletics - posted on 10/25/2012

After another tough defeat last week the Lakeland College football team now sets its sights on finishing the year strong, starting with Saturday's Northern Athletics Conference game against Aurora (Ill.) University at 1 p.m. at Aurora's Vago Field.

The Muskies are coming off another narrow miss last week, a 23-16 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin in the Cheese Bowl game. The Falcons returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown with 1:06 left in the game for the winning points, just after Lakeland had rallied to score a tying touchdown. The Muskies lost by a touchdown for the third time this season and dropped to 2-5 overall, 2-2 in the NAC, while Aurora is 3-4 overall and also 2-2 in conference play. The Spartans are coming off a close game of their own last week, a 38-34 loss to unbeaten NAC leaders Concordia University Chicago.

Aurora leads the all-time series between the schools 22-18, though Lakeland won last year's game 19-18 as Dylan Van Straten (Jr.-Shiocton, Wis.) scored on a three-yard run with just over three minutes left in the game to cap a 93-yard drive.

Live video of the game will be available at http://athletics.aurora.edu/sports/2010/9/16/livevideo.aspx?id=66 . Live stats also will be available at http://www.sidearmstats.com/aurora/football/scoreboard.aspx.
