The Lakeland College women's basketball team opened the 2005-06 Lake Michigan Conference season with a 59-57 victory Wednesday at Milwaukee School of Engineering.
In a game that saw 10 ties, the Muskies were able to take control midway through the second half, building a seven-point, 55-48 lead with 2:50 remaining, a lead the host Raiders could not overcome.
Lakeland's bench outscored the Raiders 16-9 en route to the victory. Sophomore Jenna Boehm scored 10 for the Muskies off the bench, while senior Kristi Thill scored 12 points and classmate Beth Porter added 11 points and 4 rebounds.
With the win, the Muskies improve to 3-3 overall. The Muskies will next be in action on Saturday, Dec. 3, as they travel to preseason LMC favorite Edgewood College in Madison for a rematch of last season's LMC title game. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
