KENOSHA, Wis. - Vashia Gordon (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis.) won the high jump and posted solid finishes in several other events, leading the Lakeland College indoor track & field teams at the.University of Wisconsin-Parkside Classic on Saturday.
Gordon cleared 1.50 meters (four feet, 11 inches) to edge Emily Mauermann of Concordia University Wisconsin in the event and score all ten points for the Muskie women in the meet. She also was ninth in the long jump with a mark of 4.25 meter (13-11 1/4) and placed 16th in the 55-meter dash (8.18 seconds) and 19th in the 200 (30.17) to post the four best performances by a Lakeland female at the meet.
Gordon posted the best marks for a limited contingent of Muskie athletes competing in the meet. The men's squad was led by Diontaye Land (Fr.-Inkster, Mich.), who finished 22nd in the shot put with a best throw of 11.05m (36-3).
Yaphay Harvey (So.-Milwaukee, Wis.) finished 23rd in the 200 meters with a time of 24.45. Jordan Schreiber (Fr.-Bowler, Wis.) also placed 23rd in the long jump with a leap of 4.87m (15-11 3/4).
UW-Parkside won the women's title with 112 points, with Concordia University Chicago and Beloit College tying for second with 89 1/3 points. Milwaukee School of Engineering won the men's title with 120 points, just ahead of UW-Parkside in second with 115.
