- ABOUT LAKELAND
The Lakeland College football program has released its ten-game football schedule for the 2013 season.
The Muskies' slate is highlighted by five home games, including three against Northern Athletics Conference opponents, as well as two non-conference home games. Lakeland will open its season on Sept. 7 at Carroll (Wis.) University and will play ten games in 11 weeks, with its sole week off coming on Sept. 28.
Lakeland will continue non-conference series against Wisconsin rivals Carroll and Carthage College and will host Carthage in its home opener on Sept. 14. The Muskies will then hit the road to face Alma (Mich.) College in the (Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association)-NAC Challenge on Sept. 21, and Lakeland also will face Maranatha Baptist Bible College at home on Oct. 19. The two teams will meet for the first time as non-conference foes after the Crusaders depart the NAC after the 2012-13 school year.
The Muskies will open NAC play on Oct. 5 at home against Wisconsin Lutheran College, then will travel to face Rockford (Ill.) College on Oct. 12. Lakeland also will travel to Mequon to face Concordia University Wisconsin in the 22nd annual Cheese Bowl game on Oct. 26.
The Muskies close out their home schedule with games against Aurora (Ill.) University on Nov. 2 and their home finale on Nov. 9 against Concordia University Chicago. Lakeland closes out its season on Nov. 16 when it travels to face Benedictine (Ill.) University.
Lakeland finished 2-8 overall this past season, including 2-5 in the NAC.
