Nickel Selected To Academic All-District Team
Feb. 19, 2004

Senior guard Cory Nickel was recently selected to the 2003-2004 Academic All-District V Men's Basketball First Team (College Division) by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The First Team selection guarantees that Nickel go on to represent District V on the Academic All-America national ballot.

District V had a total of 36 nominations, representing 27 different institutions. Nickel, from Pipe, WI holds a GPA of 3.75 with a major of Accounting/Business Administration. He is one of only two players from schools in Wisconsin to be selected for either the first or second team. Interestingly, the other was Matt Hopf, a senior from conference rival MSOE, and a native of nearby Howards Grove, WI.

On the court, Nickel leads the 15-12 Muskies at 20.3 points per game. Lakeland (#3 seed) will play for an automatic NCAA bid when they host Wisconsin Lutheran (#5 seed) Saturday at 7pm.
