Nickel Leads Muskies Past Marian
Jan. 17, 2004
In a game as close as this, free throws can mean everything. They did exactly
that when the Lakeland College Men's Basketball team snuck past Marian College,
75-70, on January 17.
Each team made the same amount of field goals and the same amount of three pointers, but the difference was at the charity stripe, where the Muskies made the most of their chances. They made 16 of 21 attempts from the line, eight of them coming from Cory Nickel, who led all scorers with an outstanding 30 points.
Ryan Hiir scored 11 for Lakeland and also blocked two shots and had four steals, while Danny Jansson added 10 points of his own.
Leading the host Sabres were David Whitenack with 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists, and Titus Redmond, who pitched in 12 points and seven boards.
The Muskies improved their overall record to 7-9 and evened their conference
record to 2-2 with the win.
