Muskie Men Fall In First Round Of Holiday Tournament
Dec. 27, 2003
The Lakeland College Men's Basketball Team won't be repeat champions of the
Clarke College Holiday Tournament. Unfortunately, the Muskies fell to an outstanding
Siena Heights (MI) team 80-69 on Saturday in Dubuque, Iowa.
Lakeland battled the #4 ranked NAIA team in the country for most of the game, but the Muskies couldn't overcome a poor shooting night. Lakeland managed just 30.8 percent for the game from the floor.
Cory Nickel led Lakeland with 17 points and chipped in with 8 rebounds, while Morton Szmiedowicz added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Greg McPherson and Jason Rennie each scored 17 points for Siena Heights, who moved to 12-1 on the season. Lakeland dropped to 4-7.
The Muskies will now play against Purdue North Central, who lost 81-74 to Clarke
College in the opening round. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:30am on Monday.
