Muskies Make it Three in a Row Over North Park
Jan. 7, 2004

In a close game, a team's efficiency in a certain statistical category such as rebounds, free throws, or turnovers can make the difference. The Lakeland College Women's Basketball Team was fortunate to be able to take advantage of their inside strength to win the one statistical category that wasn't close in their 52-49 victory over North Park University on January 7.

Led by Jenna Boehm, Casey Thousand, and Renee Steinert, the Muskies were able to out-rebound North Park, 31-20, and may have swung this close game in their favor. Boehm and Thousand crashed the boards for eight rebounds each, and Steinert collected seven of her own.

Steinert also led all scorers with 17 points, while Aubri Rote added 12 for the Muskies. Shandrel Young and Megan Slattery led the way for the Vikings.

Overall, the two teams were almost identical for every other statistical category. Each team threw up 44 shots in the game, with the Muskies sinking three more. Each team took 11 three-point shots with the Vikings making two more. The Muskies shot 17 free throws, sinking 11 of them, while the Vikings took 16 shots from the charity stripe, making 12 of them.

The victory improved the Muskies' overall season record to 9-4.
