Faust hammers 18 kills as Muskies defeat Sabres in four sets

muFOND DU LAC - Anna Faust (Jr.-Cross Plains, Wis.) stepped up with 18 kills and the Lakeland College women's volleyball team gained another important Northern Athletics Conference win with a four-set defeat of Marian University Tuesday night.

The Muskies defeated the Sabres for the second time this season, this time in a conference match by a score of 25-23, 25-27, 25-22, 25-21 to improve to 15-9 overall and 5-5 in the NAC. Lakeland now is just one-half game behind Marian in the conference standings after the Sabres dropped to 13-12 overall and 5-4 in the NAC.

Using a short rotation, the Muskies got a number of stellar performances from players who rarely left the court in four long sets. Faust led the team with 18 kills and added 14 digs and four blocks, while Taylor Daus (Sr.-Bay Port, Wis.) tallied 12 kills and Katie Freitag (Jr.-Kiel, Wis.) and Amanda Dillman (Jr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) added 10 and nine kills, respectively.

Brittany Reindl (Jr.-Kenosha, Wis.) set the attackers with 45 assists, while Tess Myklebust (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) led five players in double figures in digs with 17 digs. Lakeland hit .165 for the match with 57 kills to 29 errors in 170 attack attempts. The Muskies also added seven service aces and seven blocks.

Anna Smit led Marian with 14 kills, while Katie Reimer had 36 assists and Katrina Jansen led the Sabres with 17 digs. Marian hit .107 in the match with 43 kills but 27 errors in 149 attempts.

The Muskies are home Friday night for their final home match of the season at 7 p.m. against Milwaukee School of Engineering. The match will be the final at home for Daus, the lone senior on this year's team.
