Lakeland College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). Institutions of higher education must engage in periodic external evaluations in order to maintain their accreditation. Lakeland College's last comprehensive evaluation took place in 2009. Following that visit, upon the recommendation of the visiting team, the College received a ten-year reaffirmation of accreditation. In March, 2013 the visiting team reviewed evidence of assessment and support for graduate programs and personnel qualifications. The visiting team recommended continued accreditation, with the next reaffirmation of accreditation visit scheduled for 2019.
Lakeland College is currently preparing for a mid-cycle comprehensive evaluation, required of all HLC accredited institutions following the Standard Pathway. A steering committee comprised of faculty, staff, and administrators are compiling information to demonstrate fulfillment of criteria for continued accreditation. A team of peer reviewers representing the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association will visit Lakeland in April 2015.
Lakeland College invites comments from the public about the college in preparation for the April, 2015 visit. Public comment can be provided at the website of the Higher Learning Commission.
