Financial Aid

How are you planning to finance your education? Choose the financing option you would like to pursue. Financing options can be categorized into the following four options:

  1. Pay on your own. If you would like to pay on your own you can do so prior to each term. We also have an option where you can divide your out-of-pocket expenses into 3 equal payments throughout the semester.
  2. Financial Aid and Student Loans.Undergraduate and Graduate financial aid is available to eligible students who are accepted as a degree-seeking student and enrolled at least half-time status (six credits per semester). To determine your financial aid eligibility and begin the financial aid process, please start by looking at our Financial Aid check list.
    1. APPLY FOR ADMISSION TO LAKELAND COLLEGE
      • click here to start your Lakeland College application
      • Select, complete and submit application, Undergraduate or Graduate Application
    2. APPLY FOR A FEDERAL PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER [PIN]
      • The PIN allows you to sign the Free Application for Federal Student Aid [FAFSA] electronically, access your FAFSA and access federal loan information. You will need a PIN for you, the student, and parent if providing parent data on the FAFSA
      • Go to www.pin.ed.gov
      • Select “Apply for a PIN”
    3. COLLECT DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID [FAFSA]
      • Your Social Security number
      • Your parents’ Social Security numbers, if you are providing parent information
      • Your driver’s license number, if you have one
      • Your Alien Registration number, if you are not a U.S. citizen
      • Federal tax information or tax returns including IRS W-2 information, for you [and your spouse, if you are married and for your parents, if you are providing parent information - Use 2012 income records for the 2013-2014 FAFSA. - If you have not yet filed an income tax return, indicate “Will File” and use estimated tax data
      • Records of your untaxed income, such as child support received, interest income and veterans non-education benefits for you, and if married, your spouse, and parents if you are providing parent information
      • Information on cash, savings and checking account balances; investments, including real estate but not including the home in which you live; and business and farm assets for you, your spouse, if married, and for your parents if you are providing parent information
    4. COMPLETE THE 2013-2014 FAFSA
      • Priority date is June 15, 2013
      • Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and select “Start a New FAFSA”
      • Lakeland’s school code is: 003854
    5. COMPLETE THE 2013-2014 LAKELAND COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION
      • Priority date is June 15, 2013
      • Log in to www.my.lakeland.edu [User name is your student I.D.]
      • Under Quick Links, select Financial Aid Student Access [NetPartner]
      • On top of page, choose 2013-2014 for Current Award Year
      • Select “Apply Online” tab to enter information and submit
    6. SUBMIT ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION AS REQUESTED
      • You will receive notification via email if additional documents are required
      • Or view required documents on NetPartner
    7. ACCEPT FINANCIAL AID AWARDS
      • You will receive an email when your award is completed
      • Follow instructions to accept awards on NetPartner
    8. COMPLETE LOAN ENTRANCE COUNSELING AND MASTER PROMISSORY NOTE
      • If federal student loans are accepted and you are a first-time borrower, you must complete loan entrance counseling and a master promissory note
      • Go to www.studentloans.gov [Directions on NetPartner]

    Students are encouraged to seek outside scholarships to help them meet their educational costs.

  3. Employee Reimbursement.Some employers offer tuition reimbursement as a benefit for the professional development of their employees. To finance your education with this option you need to submit the following:
    • Copy of your employer's reimbursement policy
  4. Military Benefits. Lakeland College is State Agency Approved to certify all types of military benefits. The College's Veterans Coordinator will process all appropriate paperwork on a semester by semester basis. If you are unsure of your eligibility for benefits, please contact your local VA Service Office (located in your local Courthouse) for assistance
