Associate Professor of Religion
A prolific author and religion scholar, Karl Kuhn challenges students to explore Scripture as he leads thought-provoking discussions about biblical interpretation. An ordained United Church of Christ clergy, Karl is a frequent author and lector on biblical interpretation and biblical theology. He joined Lakeland's faculty in 1999, and he has authored three books: "Having Words with God: The Bible as Conversation" (Fortress Press, 2008), "The Heart of Biblical Narrative: Rediscovering Biblical Appeal to the Emotions" (Fortress Press, 2009), and "Luke: The Elite Evangelist" (Liturgical Press, 2010). He has served several congregations as an associate and interim minister, and his wife, Kathryn, is also an ordained UCC Clergy.
Karl is married to Kathryn O'Connor Kuhn, an ordained UCC Clergy who serves as pastor at Saron United Church of Christ outside Sheboygan Falls, WI. Karl, Kathryn and their children, Joshua and Clare, reside on a small hobby farm outside of Kiel. In his free time Karl enjoys carpentry, gardening, hiking, fishing and hunting.
