Academics - posted on 5/9/2006

Journalist Jackie Spinner's address at Lakeland College's 144th Commencement will air on C-SPAN on Saturday, May 13, at approximately 8 p.m. CST.

All this month, C-SPAN will broadcast commencement speeches on American Perspectives, which airs Saturday nights at 7 p.m. CST.

C-SPAN is also airing commencement speeches by potential 2008 presidential candidates on C-SPAN's Road to the White House, Sundays in May. That program airs at 6:30 & 9:30 p.m. CST.

Lakeland's address will be one of only about 40 commencement speeches from colleges and universities across the nation that C-SPAN will record and air.

Spinner, a staff reporter at the The Washington Post, spent 13 months covering the war in Iraq and is the author of the recently-published "Tell Them I Didn't Cry" which chronicles her experience in Iraq.
