Time for a Change

You ever notice that with Fall it brings about a certain feel for change? My husband can attest that it's definitely the time our house bills start to go up, a result of my ever present need to shop for the new fall styles of clothing. We just moved into our apartment in Sheboygan. It is quite a bit larger than our apartment in Fargo so with that brings the need to buy more decorations, another set of towels for the second bathroom, more sheets and bed comforters. Has anyone purchased window drapes lately? -they sure are pricey.
Maybe it's the idea that with the changing of the leaves and temperature we too need to change with the times. I just found out today that my car needs a new tie rod, which meant absolutely nothing to me when I learned that. I had taken my car in for a recall on a steering component and they found out I needed more work. I believe the written notice I received said "tie rod loose, extremely dangerous to drive." And yet I found this out after driving the car home to read it on the paperwork. Why wouldn't you stop and tell someone their car was dangerous before they drive it? Better yet, why wouldn't you stop the oblivious young woman from driving her dangerous car home just to read the notice and have no idea what it meant? I still drove it to work today and then called my dad to find out what it meant. It means at any time one of my front tires could snap loose and not turn where I need it to go. SCARY. I don't exactly consider my car old yet, 77,000 miles, 6-years old. I think I might have to consider the idea of changing to a new car. I guess I better stop shopping.
At Lakeland a new and very exciting change to campus life is the over-abundance of Homecoming activities. For the whole week, each day there has been 3-4 activities planned that ranged from eating whip cream and cheese balls to having a 'Date Auction', to competing for 'Mr. Muskie'. It all has been leading up to our Homecoming game, the Cheese Bowl, this Saturday the 21st at 1:00pm. It's crazy how much is going on due to our new Student Activities Director Talia Proffitt. Sorry to say that I can't give you any more insight as to the compelling details of these contests, I was on the road all week visiting high schools.
I believe change can be a good thing. I'm finding that with my job, the variety of the high school students I meet every day changes my outlook for the day. No day is the same. The places I travel to are drastically different and in turn, the students are no where comparable. I could go on and on with all the changes that are happening in my life. Like my car, not all the changes are good but at least it keeps me on my toes.
