Athletics - posted on 2/7/2013

Lakeland College basketball players Taylor Jandrin (Jr.-Forestville, Wis.) and Justin Ward (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) have been named this week's Muskies of the Week.

Jandrin receives the honor for the first time this season after leading the Lakeland women to a pair of wins last week. She scored a career-high 20 points on Thursday in a 73-61 win over Marian University, making seven of 11 shots from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. She also added seven rebounds in that contest, and then again led the Muskies in scoring in a 65-52 win over Aurora (Ill.) University on Saturday. Jandrin hit 6-of-8 from the field in that game, including 3-of-4 three-point tries, and also added six rebounds. She currently leads the Northern Athletics Conference in three-point shooting percentage, making 44.9% of her shots from long range, and for the season she is averaging 9.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Ward is honored after two big games last week in a pair of wins for the Muskie men. He led the team with 17 points and added nine rebounds, five blocked shots and three steals last Tuesday in a 59-54 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering, and then posted 20 points, 22 rebounds and three blocks in Lakeland's 99-94 overtime win over NAC South Division leader Aurora. He was named the NAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for his performances, and for the season he is averaging 16.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. The Muskies are in position to clinch their first-ever NAC North Division title, holding a one-game lead over Concordia University Wisconsin and MSOE with two games to play in the regular season.
